Destin Florida Wedding. Well…sort of.
The beautiful couple in the blog today is my (Trish’s) sister and her husband. Amy Jo and Ben were actually married almost two years ago, but they’ve always wanted to do a photography session in their wedding attire without the stress of the actual wedding day. We woke up to a nasty storm on the day of the session but the So Life team decided to make the trip to Destin anyway. So Life is all about real life, so we were gonna make it work, rain or shine. We ended up getting amazing shots and great video footage (Stay tuned!) and had a super fun day with them! Since I know them personally, I can tell you that these two are even more in love two years after the wedding. I think the images speak for themselves…
Life as it happens, that’s all, a family non-session session.
As we all know, sometimes it is the little things in life that bring us the most joy. I am a photographer all of the time it seems, but the images I love most are the ones that I never plan to get. No scheduled session where everyone feels the need to dress up, no rules about lighting, no taking extra time to give the kids “the talk” about being good for the photographer, just plain and simple life as it is happening. No matter how much I try and stress the importance of this to families before their scheduled shoot it still somehow gets lost. The awkwardness of having some girl there clicking at your every move is far from natural and that may have something to do with it. These guys are my friends and I love them. While I was visiting them we were all piled in their room listening to the rain fall from the open bedroom windows and I snapped a few photos. That simple. It is so refreshing. I honestly was inspired when I noticed a large black and white print of their oldest daughter Kyra in their living room. I thought how awesome and natural the photo was and it was basically a snap shot. There was no fancy lighting or wardrobe just a beautiful honest photo.

Awesome Engagement Shoot
We are very much looking forward to this couples’ wedding in downtown Mobile this spring. When getting to know them, we found out that they love to cook. In order to make their engagement session reflect their personalities we headed to an industrial kitchen provided by the wonderful Tacky Jacks on the causeway for this one of a kind shoot.
